Match Analysis

Bengal Warriors

Bengal Warriors played a good match against the Jaipur Pink Panthers that went down to the wire and were just short of their second win in the tournament. We have been very impressed in the manner in which the Bengal Warriors have played so far.

Their three-pronged attack has been effective and is going to ask a lot of questions of the Puneri Paltan defense. Maninder Singh, K Prapanjan, and Mohammad Esmaeil Nabibakhsh are going to be tough for Puneri Paltan to stop.

Maninder Singh is the leading scorer for the Bengal Warriors right now and is going to be the biggest threat in this match as well. He needs support from the other two raiders, however. K Prapanajn was very good against Jaipur but Mohammad Nabibakhsh was less effective than he was on his debut.

A more consistent performance from all the three raiders will help the Bengal Warriors in planning their strategy.

Baldev Singh is the leader of the defense with Rinku Narwal and Jeeva Kumar in good form as well.

We have not changed our mind on the Bengal Warriors and continue to rate them very highly.

Puneri Paltan

Things are looking a bit gloomy for Puneri Paltan and we don’t think they are going to improve any time soon. They lost their lead raider, Nitin Tomar, to an injury just before the start of PKL 5 and were unable to make appropriate adjustments to their plan.

It is also a reflection of their talent pool that the loss of Nitin Tomar is hitting them so hard. Some careful planning and foresight could have allowed them to draft several high-quality raiders available in the league right now.

The defense for Puneri Paltan is not bad. Surjeet Singh, a former Bengal Warriors player, Girish Maruti Ernak, and Shubham Shinde have managed to make life difficult for the opposing raiders. There is only so much that they can do, though.

Puneri Paltan keeps falling behind during the match and is unable to catch up because its raiders are not effective.

Pawan Kadian is the lead raider for Puneri Paltan right now and we don’t think he is of the quality that PKL demands right now. Sushant Sail was impressive as a substitute in the previous match and we really think that Puneri Paltan is not going to lose anything by playing him in the starting seven.

Key stat

There have been eleven matches between the Bengal Warriors and Puneri Paltan in the past. Six of those matches have been won by Puneri Paltan, four by the Bengal Warriors, and one match has ended in a tie.

Verdict

We think the Bengal Warriors are much too strong for Puneri Paltan on current form. With superior raiding depth, an in-form defense, and a strong bench, the Bengal Warriors should be able to win this match with ease.

Bet on the Bengal Warriors to win.
