We have not seen the Gujarat Fortunegiants in the kind of prolonged slump they have been. This is a team that lost the least number of matches in the entire league last season and only a combined seven matches in total over the previous two seasons.
What is going wrong for them? It is certainly not the defense. The Gujarat Fortunegiants have made a few errors while defending but that is to be expected when the team is under such severe pressure. Sunil Kumar and Parvesh Bhainswal are two of the best defenders in the business and they continue to be very consistent on the mat.
The main problem for the Gujarat Fortunegiants has been a lack of form for Sachin Tanwar. He is their best raider and performed brilliantly in the last two seasons. Rohit Gulia has been better than Sachin Tanwar so far and that would not be a problem if Sachin was playing up to his usual standards.
After averaging close to a Super-10 last season, he is just averaging five rain points per game. If Sachin Tanwar finds his form then the team will start winning again.
Jaipur Pink Panthers
Five wins from six matches have given the Jaipur Pink Panthers a fantastic start to PKL 2019. They only lost the game against Dabang Delhi K.C and that loss was by a pretty small margin also.
Sandeep Dhull has taken his game to another level and leads the entire league in tackle points at the moment. His performances in the left-corner are propelling the Jaipur Pink Panthers towards having their best defensive season yet.
Of course, he has had some good support in the defense from Amit Hooda and Sunil Siddhgavali. The three of them will be very keen to keep Sachin Tanwar from regaining form in this match.
Deepak Niwas Hooda loves leadership and his performances as captain seem to cement that. He has been the best raider for the Jaipur Pink Panthers this season and been very consistent in every match. Of particular interest are his raids in ‘Do or Die’ situations where he has a fantastic strike rate.
It shows that Deepak Niwas Hooda is up for the challenge and revels under pressure.
There is no doubt that the Jaipur Pink Panthers are one of the best teams in the league and title contenders for sure.
