Patna Pirates
The Patna Pirates have won two out of their opening three matches and are looking in very good form. Pardeep Narwal seems to have come into this season with a point to prove and is playing far better than what we saw from him in the previous season. Pardeep narwal is the leading raider for his side with 18 points including one Super-10.
Pardeep, Jang Kun Lee, and Mohammad Esmael Maghsoudlou are going to have a tough time against the solid Jaipur Pink Panthers defense. Jang Kun Lee has shown some sparks but is not at his best yet while Mohammad Esmaeil Maghsoudou suffered a poor game after an excellent start to his PKL career.
There is plenty of potential in the raiding department but a few questions need to be answered as well.
Now let’s come to the defense. This is where Jaideep has shone for the Patna Pirates. He has two High-5’s in the last two wins and has been brilliant at shutting down the opposing raiders. Excellent support from Hadi Oshtorak, Neeraj Kumar, and Monu has also helped the Patna Pirates get their two wins.
Jaipur Pink Panthers
Three wins from three matches have allowed the Jaipur Pink Panthers to sit near the top of the table at this early stage in the competition. They don’t want to take things easy, though, because each and every team is closely matched in PKL 2019.
The star for the Jaipur Pink Panthers has been Deepak Niwas Hooda on the offense. He is just full of energy and is always on the hunt for a point. He just never seems to give up and that is why he is often able to salvage something from situations where others would not even try.
His backup raiders have been okay without being spectacular so far and we expect more from Ajinkya Pawar moving forward.
The defense from the Jaipur Pink Panthers has been supreme as well. Amit Hooda, Sandeep Dhull, and the al-rounders have been very effective at shutting the opposing raiders down. They are going to have to be at their best against the Patna Pirates as well.
The Jaipur Pink Panthers have come close to being beaten but have always found that little bit extra in the end.
The Patna Pirates have won eight out of the twelve matches that have been played between the two sides. That is a big advantage to have and will leave a psychological mark.
Home legs have been tough for the home teams so far and the Jaipur Pink Panthers are in excellent form as well. Overall, though, we like the team balance of the Patna Pirates and think they are going to be able to end the winning streak of the Pink Panthers.
