Patna Pirates
Patna Pirates have five wins and a tie from their seven matches. Their only loss came right at the start of the season and so their recent form has been quite fantastic. They were pushed to the brink against the Gujarat Giants but emerged with the maximum possible points. We think the raiding trio of Monu Goyat, Prashanth Kumar Rai, and Sachin is as good as any that we have seen in PKL 2021-22. Sachin, in particular, is one of the most underrated raiders and is able to play the perfect support raider's role.
Neeraj Kumar and Mohammadreza lead the defense for the Patna Pirates. Their defense has not been error-free, however, it has been pretty decisive and tactically sound.
U Mumba
After a couple of slow matches where U Mumba was held to three ties in four matches, U Mumba found its bearing against the struggling Telugu Titans. They are going to have to be at their best to get the better of the Patna Pirates, though. Abhishek Singh picked up a Super-10 in the previous match but his form is not the most dependable. He can be brilliant in one match and struggle to get a single point in the next. V Ajith has actually been the surprise package in this U Mumba lineup and will hopefully be able to continue his current form.
The big letdown has been U Mumba's defense. It has just not been good enough to stop opposition raiders from having their way. Against a team like Patna Pirates, that could end any hopes that U Mumba has of winning.
U Mumba has conceded the least all-outs this season and the Patna Pirates are second-best in that regard as well.
We are going to bet on the Patna Pirates to win. We think they have the advantage in the raiding department and that should be able to put enough pressure on the U Mumba defense to force mistakes.
