Telugu Titans
Telugu Titans have always had players with individual flair, but have failed to perform as a cohesive unit. That is probably why the title has remained elusive to them. However, the team will be looking to leave the past performances behind them, and enter the upcoming season with new zeal and a host of new players. Rohit Kumar, who played for the Bengaluru Bulls during the last season, has been picked up by the Titans for this season. He will act as a perfect foil for their talismanic raider Siddharth Desai, aptly nicknamed `Baahubali´.
Ruturaj Koravi, who was with Gujarat Giants for the past two seasons, was picked up by the Titans, along with Sandeep Kandola, who is making a return to the PKL after 5 seasons. The corner combination of Ruturaj and Sandeep will be the one to watch out for this season. Along with them are youngsters Akash Chaudhry, Akash Dattu, as well as Manish, who are quite promising in the defense department.
Tamil Thalaivas
Just like the Titans, the Thalaivas have also opted to go for a complete overhaul of their squad after a humiliating last-place finish in the previous season. In fact, the team is yet to break into the top half of the points table ever since it made its debut in the PKL season 5.
Their biggest buy by far this season has been Surjeet Singh, who is one of the best cover defenders the league has ever seen. Assisting Surjeet will be the corner defenders, Sagar Rathee and Sagar Krishna.
The offense will be taken care of by Manjeet who scored 123 raid points and 28 tackle points during the previous season, as well as local boy K. Prapanjan, who was a member of last year’s championship-winning Bengal Warriors team.
Rohit Kumar of Telugu Titans holds the record for scoring more than 100 points in every season, since PKL 3. His cumulative score so far is 670 raid points.
Surjeet is one of the most successful cover defenders in PKL history, having scored 278 tackle points, and 27 High-5s.
Having the right mixture of experienced players as well youngsters may give the Telugu Titans an upper hand in the match. There is no stopping Siddharth Desai when he is in full flow and we think he is going to be stronger than ever in the Pro Kabaddi League this time around.
