Tamil Thalaivas
The new raiding duo of Rahul Chaudhari and Ajay Thakur has started PKL 2019 very impressively. They have been relentless in their attack and have forced their opponents on the back foot early. It was only an unforced error from Manjeet Chillar during the dying stages of the match against Dabang Delhi K.C. which prevented the Tamil Thalaivas from starting with two wins on the trot.
The defense is also in very good hands thanks to the form of Manjeet Chillar and Mohit Chillar.
We don’t think Manjeet Chillar is going to dwell on his mistake in the previous match. He is far too experienced a defender to stay in the past and will instead focus on winning his team the next match. Manjeet Chillar’s matchup against Pardeep Narwal is going to be one to watch out for.
Patna Pirates
Pardeep Narwal has 17 raid points from two matches in PKL 2019 and is showing all the signs of returning to his best. We thought there was a dip in his form in the previous season but he seems to have come back with more energy this time around.
The form of Pardeep Narwal is going to make a huge difference to the Patna Pirates that have also made some very good additions to their squad. Jang Kun Lee was starting to come into his own against Puneri Paltan and with Mohammad Esmaeil Maghsoudlou also present in the starting seven, the Patna Pirates are not going to be short on attacking options.
These three players also give Pardeep Narwal to have some time off the mat if needed.
The star if the Patna Pirates defense has been their left corner Jaideep. He has been decisive in making the tackles and is leading the entire defensive unit on the mat. Jawahar Dagar, Neeraj Choudhary, and Neeraj Kumar are also good players to have on your defensive unit and help make the Patna Pirates a well-rounded side.
There is no doubt in our mind that the Patna Pirates are going to be tested to their extreme against the Tamil Thalaivas.
The head to head between the Tamil Thalaivas and Patna Pirates is very close. The Tamil Thalaivas have won two out of the six matches played between these two sides while the Patna Pirates have won three. One match ended in a tie.
These are two evenly matches sides and we think the contest between them is going to be very close. Overall, though, we think the raiding combination of Ajay Thakur and Rahul Chaudhary is going to be enough to get the Tamil Thailvas the win in this contest.
